Fast (result in 5 min.) and reliable rapid test for determining ferritin in the blood of a human fingertip, when iron deficiency anemia is suspected.

The amount of ferritin describes the body's iron store. The level of ferritin decreases earlier than hemoglobin and therefore the assessment of ferritin plays a decisive role in the early detection of iron deficiency anemia. However, the cause of iron deficiency should always be determined. If the test gives a negative result, i.e. the amount of ferritin is below 30 ng/ml, it is worth discussing the matter with a doctor.

Iron deficiency anemia is most common in children and women of all ages, but especially in menstruating women (at least 20% suffer from iron deficiency). The main symptoms are paleness, feeling tired, headaches, a faster than usual heart rate or breathing difficulties during exercise.

They can appear gradually and also go unnoticed. Iron deficiency occurs when there are not enough red blood cells in the blood and it shows up as a low hemoglobin level. Hemoglobin is the main protein involved in oxygen transport throughout the body, and iron is an important part of hemoglobin. Iron deficiency, which can occur due to pregnancy, growth, poor iron intake, insufficient absorption, or blood loss (menstruation, unusual bleeding, ulcers, etc.), has a major impact on health.

A low ferritin level can also indicate hypothyroidism, vitamin C deficiency or celiac disease. A low ferritin level causes for some patients the so-called restless legs syndrome, and although it is not necessarily caused directly by anemia, perhaps by the depletion of iron stores caused by anemia.1,2

By testing ferritin values, you can detect a possible iron deficiency at an early stage.
